Linda Buchalo -
Technical Writer
What is your main responsibility?
I am a technical writer for the Infogix Assure product. My primary responsibility is to write the online help and other supporting documentation. We work in an agile development environment so I document new features as they are developed. I contribute to the product by making suggestions that add to product consistency, clarity, and usability.
Who do you work with and what do you do when working with them?
I work with developers, quality assurance specialists, instructional designers, and other technical writers. We meet to discuss new features and to review the documentation for technical accuracy and usability. If I have a question about how our customers use the product, I consult with a product consultant from Customer Support.
What do you do for lunch?
I usually have lunch with co-workers, either in the company kitchen or at a neighboring restaurant. I don't have lunch with the same people every day. I have made many new friends at Infogix and we often get together at lunch. Sometimes we talk about work and other times we simply enjoy an afternoon break, often searching out new cuisines.
What is your team like?
Our project team meets daily to discuss project tasks and any obstacles that come our way. These meetings keep the entire team in tune with what everyone is doing; they also help to establish the correct contact person to answer questions and verify technical accuracy. At these meetings, we can bring up suggestions that result in product improvements.
What accomplishments are you proud of?
I think that some of my suggestions have resulted in more visibility for the technical writers. The project team has an increased awareness of the need for quality documentation. The writers are consulted to write error messages and inline instructions, and to make suggestions for product terminology. Team members participate in documentation reviews to ensure technical accuracy. They have an increased awareness of the need to consider future localization when designing screens or writing online help and user guides.

Become Part of a Highly Successful Team
From the words we choose – "Team Members" versus "employees" and "supporting leaders" versus "managers," to the formal structure of self-managed teams - our environment rewards Team Member collaboration and cooperation (not competition). We strive to limit bureaucracy, eliminate silo mentality between teams, and continuously develop the skills that our Team Members need to perform as members of a highly successful team.
